All of our suppliers such as Enterprise, Europcar, Alamo, Hertz, Sixt, and Thrifty accept Credit Cards from major companies such as Visa and Mastercard. You will need to present a credit card in the name of the driver in order to hire a car in the UK.
VroomVroomVroom has listed down some important information that could guide you when paying your rental car using your credit card.
Most major credit cards are accepted, however Visa Electron, Diners Club and all unembossed credit cards will not be an acceptable form of payment. The credit card must be in the name of the renter.
Credit cards accepted: Mastercard, VISA including Visa Electron cards, Diners Club, American Express (excluding American Express Travellers's Cheque cards), Avis -issued charge cards
Credit card details will be taken at time of rental. A credit card from a major credit card company will be required for security when renting a car and will need to be in the name of the principal driver. Avis and Budget are unable to accept Electron or Debit Cards.
All major debit and credit cards (issued by either Visa, Mastercard or American Express) are accepted. All cards presented must be in the renter’s name. A security deposit plus the estimated cost of the rental will be taken at the time of rental.
Cash, checks, prepaid cards, Diners Club and Discover Card are not accepted.
Credit cards accepted: MasterCard, Visa, Diners and American Express
A deposit will be required upon arrival at the rental location which is intended to cover additional rental costs which may be incurred.
The deposit amount will be authorised on your credit card when collecting your vehicle. If there are no additional charges that need to be paid for when you return the Vehicle to us at the end of the Hire Period then the deposit value will be released to your credit card.
Please note that it may take up to 10 working days for the deposit monies to be available in your credit card account depending on your bank or card provider.
Credit cards accepted: American Express, Mastercard, Diners Club, Visa, Hertz Charge Card and Japanese Credit Bureau
A valid credit card in the renter's name is required for booking and must have available credit for the estimated amount of rental charges plus a bond for any incidental charges in order to secure the rental.
Rentals paid for by a valid credit, Visa/Mastercard debit or charge card from all Hertz Corporate locations and certain Franchisee locations will be subject to a maximum card surcharge rate of 1.35% (including GST).
Credit cards accepted: American Express, Mastercard, Diner's Club, Visa, JCB and Discovery Cards.
All credit cards must be in the main renter's name. The following credit cards are accepted in the UK: American Express, Visa, Eurocard/Mastercard, Diner's Club, JCB, Discovery Card.
Note that all Sixt Cards, such as Sixt Express, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Unlimited and Corporate cards are only accepted in combination with a valid Credit Card and valid documents.
The approval amount is not immediately debited but held on the cardholder's bank account until the final rental charge amount has been paid to us. When the Vehicle is returned, the invoiced amount will be charged to the credit card provided, unless you present another form of payment.

Payment is required by credit card issued on UK banks only. Cash, cheque, and pre-paid credit cards are not accepted. Third parties may pre pay for a rental but the credit or debit card presented at the start of the hire must always be in the name of the main driver. If a third party pays for the rental online, you must indicate the name of the person who will be driving the vehicle where shown in the booking process. Vouchers cannot be transferred, ie the person named on the voucher as the hirer must be the person who drives the vehicle. Third parties paying for the rental at pick up (or additional rental charges in the event of a pre-payment) is not acceptable.
