Most car hire companies in the UK will allow a renter to take and drive a rental car to Ireland. However, please note that fees and conditions apply. Charges will depend on extra insurance and roadside assistance cover for which you will be required. These fees differ for short periods (GPB50 + tax ) and for longer rentals (GBP150 + tax).
Note also that since many suppliers do not have insurance which cover the vehicles while they are on a ferry, the driver will be liable to pay for the cost of the rental car damage.
Listed below are some of the suppliers in the UK that will permit you to drive your vehicle into Ireland, but there are restrictions. Make sure to read the terms and conditions of each supplier or contact them directly regarding your plans:

Please note that this fee includes AA continental cover, which can only be purchased at time of rental. A Continental Cover offers the necessary documentation to prove insurance cover, together with 24 hour breakdown assistance whilst overseas.
