Most car hire companies will allow your rental car to be taken to the Republic of Ireland, but it may also depend on the pick up location and the vehicle type you've rented. Other important details such as several people travelling in the vehicle and names of all drivers are also compulsory. Most car hire companies will allow you to cross the border from the UK Mainland to the Republic of Ireland. You will need to pay a cross-border fee and may also be required to take out additional insurance cover.
